And the nominees are…
Babbe Noya and I are nominated for a SpinAward Young Talent. Only nine projects are left in our category, so our project Sam and his Worldkids-Reporters has a chance to win. This week we presented our project to the judges for the second time.
The SpinAwards, annually awarded since 1998, stand for creativity in interactive communication. In 2009 there was a new category: Young Talent. The SpinAwards-Foundation wanted to challenge media and communication students to be even more creative. They gave us a platform to promote ourselves to our future work field.
The SpinAwards-Foundation works together with Hogeschool van Amsterdam, where we are both studying. Babbe is studying Media, Information and Communication and I study Interactive Media. When we heard about it we decided to try our luck and we entered our project that we made for Radio Netherlands Worldwide.
After presenting for the judges on March 8th, we were pleased to hear that we were now officially nominated. This meant we would be a part of the SpinAwards Inspiration Days on March 22 and 23.
Meanwhile the press started doing their thing and we found out their research isn’t always correct. Often I got all the credits and Babbe’s name was nowhere to be found and they always tend to think we study the same thing, which is not true. So I hope this article makes things clear.
The Award-Night will take place on April 7th, where all the nominees will be treated with a fancy dinner. Maybe we will go home with a SpinRing, maybe we’ll leave empty handed but I know I will walk out with my head held high.
